Davis Cup Results: Serbia Wins Its First Davis Cup Title

It was an impossible dream, but Serbia beat all the odds and won its first Davis Cup title, several sports sites reported.

Serbia started the day 2-1 after losing a cliffhanger doubles rubber on Saturday. Novak Djokovic won against Gael Monfils to level the score and Victor Troicki finished the task to win the Davis Cup. Troicki won against France’s Michael Llodra bagging a 3-2 victory for Serbia.

Serbian Tennis Federation‘s president Slobodan Zivojinovic said that he would shave his head if they won the Davis Cup. True to his promise, the players sit him down and took some clippers to his head.

“It was unbelievable today. Maybe one of the best matches I have played this year. It was definitely a lot of pressure, expectations. But this is the finals of Davis Cup. You cannot get more energy than this. So I’m very, very happy with the way I played, ” Djokovic was quoted saying.
