Connecticut Election Results 2012: Chris Murphy wins US Senate Seat

Latest 2012 US Election results on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 showed that Democrat candidate Christopher Murphy won a Senate seat in the state of Connecticut.

Murphy became the newest US Senator from the state of Connecticut after winning over former wrestling executive and Republican candidate Linda McMahon.

Political observers described the Connecticut Senate election as one of the most expensive campaign in the history of the state.

McMahon reportedly spent about $44 million in her quest to win a Senate seat while Murphy raised about $10 million in his campaign.

The 39-year-old Murphy is the son of a lawyer and a public school teacher who grew up in Wethersfield. He is a law degree holder from the University of Connecticut.
