Confederate Memorial Day 2011: Original Constitution on Display in Georgia

The Confederate Memorial Day 2011 will be celebrated in Southern States in the US on April 26, 2011, with the original Constitution being displayed from 8:00 am to 5 pm at the Hargrett Library, University of Georgia.  This is according to US news sites, April 26, 2011.

This is an annual event celebrated by Tennessee as Confederate Decoration Day and in Texas as the Confederate Heroes Day (January 19). This day is in commemoration of the American Civil War for the Confederate States of America.

According to Online Athens, Memorial Day is now “…attended by only a few people…”

The significance of the event however, which was organized by the Atlanta Ladies’ Memorial Association with the creed of,

“Paying honor to those who died defending the life, honor and happiness of the Southern women,”

has always been remembered up to this date.
