According to local news, the landslide happened at around about 2:30 a.m. (local time) at Sitio Panganason in Kingking village, Pantukan, in Compostela Valley, where the bodies have been found

(*Note: ABS-CBN reported one dead, while GMA-7 and Inquirer said 10 bodied were found.)

“Nabigyan ako ng casualty report na 10 ang initial (na namatay). Yan ang report ng chief of police, nakuha sa local officials,” Provincial police Chief Senior Superintendent Aaron Aquino told GMA News’ ‘Balitanghali’ on Friday noon.

(I was given a casualty report of initial of 10 people dead. That was the report of the the chief of police, taken form local officials.)

Local authorities told reports that the landslide could have been due to heavy rain that poured in the area, with at least six people were injured and were brought to the nearest hospitals.

Apparently, rescue team had a hard time going to the affected site via helicopter due to cloudy and bad weather, and the number of houses buried has not yet been estimated as of this moment.

Pantukan, a site known to be rich in gold mining, had previous reports of landslide and casualties back in 2009 and 2010, while local officials are finding ways to penetrate into the area.
