Coach Freddie Roach to give $1,000 Prize for a Manny Pacquiao Knockout

Coach Freddie Roach will give $1,000 prize to any sparring partner who can knockout Manny Pacquiao, Eddie Alinea wrote at PhilBoxing.com a few hours ago.

“Yes, I am renewing my challenge to Manny’s sparring partners to make sure they will put up their best in their job to put him in top shape when the fight comes,” as Roach told to Alinea recently through a telephone conversation.

This is also an additional motivation to all the sparring partners of Manny Pacquiao, who consistently is training hard for his fight against Antonio Margarito next month.

Among the sparring partners of Pacquiao are WBC Light Welterweight Champion Amir Khan from UK, Glen Tapia from US, Mexican Michael Medina, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Meanwhile, undefeated junior-middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan, who will be in the Philippines soon to help in the Pacquiao training , was reported to have accepted the big challenge.

As reported at Boxing Scene website, Martirosyan, who has a record of 28-0 with 17 knockouts, will be here in the country also to prepare for his own fight with Pawel Wolak on Dec. 4.

This is the second time that Coach Freddie Roach has made an announcement that he will give a $1,000 bonus for any sparring partner who can knockout Manny Pacquiao.

In 2008, Roach also made the same announcement while Pacquiao was preparing for his fight against boxing icon Oscar de la Hoya, but nobody won.

Incidentally, the Pacquiao-Margarito fight will be held at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on November 13 (November 14 in Manila).
