Classes Suspended Today June 24 For PreSchool and High School In NCR, Other Areas

There will be no classes today, June 24, 2011 in all preschool, elementary, and high school levels in all private and public schools in Metro Manila and nearby cities and provinces as announced by the Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday night, June 23, 2011 through DZMM radio.

DepEd National Capital Region Director Elena Ruiz clarified that the suspension of classes will not cover cover colleges and universities, that are under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

CHED executive director Julito Vitriolo said that classes in all college level are automatically suspended if an area is under storm signal number 3 or 4. University officials has the discretion of suspending classes in their own colleges and universities.

Below are the areas outside of Metro Manila where classes in public and private preschool, elementary, and high schools are suspended.

  • Antipolo City
  • Cainta
  • Calamba City
  • Cavite City
  • Malolos City
  • Subic
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Pangasinan
