Chrysler has issued a recall order on 867,795 vehicles due to a defective brake system. The Chrysler recall was announced on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

Reports say that excessive brake-pedal firmness on 2011-2014 models of Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs led to the Chrysler recall.

Majority of the vehicles being recalled by Chrysler was sold in the US. According to Chrysler, 644,354 vehicles issued in the US, is included in the recall order.

Chrysler will be providing a corrosion protection shield on their vehicle’s brake boosters. Water exposure of the brake system is being blamed for the defect. The brake boosters will now have crimp joints that can resist corrosion.

The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles unit is the second major car manufacturer that has issued a recall this year. About 6.26 million vehicles was recalled by General Motors Co. earlier.
