Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader leads the Top 10 Box-Office with $24.5 million

The latest and third chapter of series film ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ leads the Top 10 Box-Office in US and Canada theaters this weekend and made $24.5 million, according to Hollywood.com on Sunday.

Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the third film of the continuing saga based on C.S. Lewis‘ epic fantasy novel, with the same title.

Among the three Narnia films, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the first one to be released in 3D and also the first one to be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Apparently, this chapter had the lowest first-weekend earnings among the Narnia film series, in which the first two chapters were released by Disney.

The first chapter The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which was released in 2005 made $65.6 million on its first week, while the sequel Prince Caspian made $55 million one week after its release in 2008.

Meanwhile, the romantic thriller film “The Tourist” starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie landed on the second place with $17 million.

On the other hand, the Disney 3D animation film Tangled that was on the top last week slipped down to third place with $14.6 million.
