Christina Aguilera inadvertently “changed’ the lyrics of America’s National Anthem during the opening ceremonies of the Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, Texas. This was revealed by entertainment news sites February 6, 2011.

Christina Aguilera had the lyrics of the “Star-Spangled Banner” mixed up inadvertently, while Lea Michelle sang “America the Beautiful” flawlessly. The performances also feature the Black Eyed Peas.

Christina Aguilera has changed the lyrics of the 4th line. Aguilera sang:

“What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming,”

instead of the correct lines:

“O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming”

which was noticed by millions who really knew the lyrics by heart. It is forgivable though as there are a number of singers, who have forgotten the lyrics in the past.

The Super Bowl 2011 features a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers.
