Christiane Amanpour Interviews Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Vice President Omar Suleiman (video)

Christiane Amanpour, an ABC veteran news correspondent, had an exclusive interview with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after eluding an angry mob that surrounded her in the streets of Cairo, Egypt on Thursday, February  3, 2011, according to ABC News‘ Reporter’s Notebook.

During the exclusive interview with ABC News, President Mubarak told Amanpour that there will be chaos if he resigns now. Mubarak, Egyptian leader for nearly three decades now, is being pressured by Egyptian demonstrators to leave office. Cairo has been a witness for several days now in what is believed to be the largest anti-government protests in Egypt in decades.

To get through took about an hour’s negotiation, ended only when she showed a soldier official papers confirming her interview with Suleiman, she said.

After Amanpour’s interview with the Egyptian President, the ABC journalist was given a chance to have a one on one interview with newly appointed Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman.
