Chris Jericho has been suspended indefinitely due to an irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag at a WWE live event in Sao Paulo on May 24. WWE has apologized to the citizens and the government of Brazil for this incident.” A statement reads at WWE.com.

According to TMZ on Friday, the Chris Jericho vs C.M. Punk live match was stopped by local law officials after Jericho took the Brazilian flag away from Punk, who was proudly waiving it in the ring, and crumpled it up and kicked it out of the ring.

Apparently, local cops required Chris Jericho to apologize to the arena for his action and will go to prison otherwise, with the 41-year old wrestler reportedly spoke to the crowd, apologizing and telling them that he regretted his actions and the match was allowed to continue.

“Just for the record I love Brazil and wish we could’ve spent more time here. Beautiful country!” Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) tweeted about an hour ago, with WWE not mentioning the length of suspension imposed against him.
