Chile LAN Airlines cancels Argentina flights due to Puyehue volcano ash clouds

Chile’s LAN Airlines canceled all its flights to and from Buenos Aires in Argentina, which was due to the ash clouds created by the recent eruption of Puyehue volcano.

As posted at LAN.com on Monday, June 13, 2011 3 a.m. (Chile time), flights going to and leaving from Argentina has been canceled since Sunday, June 12.

LAN Airlines also canceled flights Sydney-Auckland-Santiago on the same day while Sydney-Aukland-Sydney flights were canceled since Saturday, June 11.

While the airline is closely monitoring the status of the airspace of the affected areas, customers are being advised to regularly check their official website for the real-time updates of their flights.

Meanwhile, LAN Airlines offers some options to the riding public but should be properly requested and processed not more than 10 days after the date of the original flight.

Among the choices include a date and route change without additional fee or a refund which is subject to all fare regulations, as well as coupons in a manner different from which they were issued.

Earlier, Qantas announced that some of their flights are still canceled while Air New Zealand said that they are making some flights adjustments.
