Chicago Air & Water Show 2011 delayed due to bad weather, to resume in the afternoon

The Chicago Air & Water Show 2011 is being delayed due to bad weather, but will be resumed in the afternoon on Saturday, August 20, 2011, which was supposed to start at 10:00 am (Chicago time) and to end at 3 p.m.

“Reports from the Gary Jet Center: The Air Show is on hold due to weather.” Chicago Air & Water Show organizers (@AirAndWaterShow) tweeted at around 11:35 am (CDT) that day.

“There will be an Air and Water Show this afternoon. Tune in to 780 AM and 105.9FM WBBM.” Chicago Air & Water Show tweeted about one and a half hour later, with show host Herb Hunter reportedly have returned to his post.

The Chicago Air and Water Show, which is an annual free show and one of the largest and longest running events of its kind in the US, features air performances from the finest civilian and military pilots.

Among the group to perform this year include the US Navy Leap Frogs Parachute Team, the US Air Force Thunderbirds and the US Army Parachute Team Golden Knights.

The 53rd Annual Chicago Air and Water Show, which is scheduled on Saturday and Sunday (August 21), can be viewed along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point.
