Charlie Sheen will star “Anger Management”, a Debmar-Mercury distributed comedy sitcom based on the 2003 film starred by Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler, as announced by various international entertainment news sites, July 18, 2011.

Apparently, Charlie Sheen will play a new and updated version of the Nicholson’s character as an anger management therapist in the Joe Roth-produced movie.

Sheen was reportedly quoted in an earlier statement saying, “I chose Anger Management because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept.”

“It also provides me with real ownership in the series, a certain amount of creative control and the chance to be back in business with one of my favorite movie producers of all time, Joe Roth,” Sheen added.

Mark Burg, Sheen’s manager, similarly mentioned through reports that the deal came together like a dream. He was even cited saying, “We have been fielding numerous offers for Charlie since his departure from Two and a Half Men, but none were as creatively and financially compelling as … Anger Management.”
