As noted at ABS-CBN News on Thursday, February 16, 2012, Charice granted them a phone interview and emphasized that the said video is not for Whitney Houston, who passed away last Saturday, February 11.

Apparently, some videos that are currently being circulated online with her singing “I Will Always Love You” have messages suggesting that Charice sang the song to honor the late music icon, where the young singer also seen crying.

“Medyo mali nga ‘yung ibang information. Yung iba sa kanila sinasabi na kagabi lang daw. Actually, ‘yung video nga na ‘yan ‘yung iba last year, ‘yung iba like 2009,” Charice was quoted telling to local TV network.

(Some details are not correct. Others are saying that the video was made last night. Actually, some of them were made last year; others are even made in 2009)

Incidentally, David Foster, Charice‘s record producer, also re-arranged the song “I Will Always Love You“, originally written and sung by Dolly Parton back in 1974, for Whitney Houston, who sang the movie for her 1992 movie hit “The Bodyguard“.

Nevertheless, Charice told the report that she has plans to make a tribute to Whitney Houston as part of her upcoming concert tour in Asia; noting that she once met the singer around one and a half years ago.

Apparently, the 19-year old YouTube sensation noted that she was happy that Whitney recognized her that night, when they met at the back stage in an event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the same hotel where the 48-year old singer was found dead.
