Celine Dion sued by former employee over ‘designation and overtime pay’ issues

Singer Celine Dion is now being sued by her former employee for “improperly and illegally designated” him that allegedly made him not eligible to receive his overtime pay despite the fact that he has worked more than the regular hours.

According to TMZ on Thursday, June 28, 2012, they obtained a copy of the lawsuit of a certain Keith Sturtevant, who filed the case on Wednesday claiming that he was a former handyman of Celine Dion and her husband Rene Angelil in their home in Hobe Sound, Florida.

As noted in the report, Sturtevant said that he was working in March 2009 as a “warehouse manager” and was hired by the couple but he did not receive appropriate compensation from them and that his “authority” was not allowed to be utilized accordingly.

Apparently, Sturtevant‘s lawsuit stated that he did odd jobs for the couple including fixing ice makers, cleaning house shutters, building stages, and even ran errands for them; and that he “did not have the power to hire or fire employees although he has a manager title”, and therefore not entitled to receive overtime pay.

Nevertheless, the man claimed that he worked for Angelil and Dion for more than 40 hours per week in which he is now suing them so that he can get back his overtime pay; with the celebrity couple not yet releasing their comment on the said issue as of this writing.
