Cash Cab Accident: Cash Cab TV Game Show Replica Taxi Hits Pedestrian In Vancouver

The Cash Cab used in the Canadian TV game show got involved in a pedestrian accident in Vancouver, Canada on Friday evening, July 15, 2011, according to reports by several international news sites.

A 61-year-old man, from Surrey, B.C., did not survived when it was hit by the Cash Cab after finishing production for the day in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Police said that the man was hit by the taxi in the city’s Downtown Eastside district. The Police did not provide any identification of the victim. Vancouver Police Constable Lindsey Houghton confirmed that no charges have been filed so far.

The replica cab, driven by a producer, is on its way back to a storage facility after completing an episode, according to a statement by Andrew Burnstein, president of Castlewood Productions Inc. which produces the show’s Canadian version.

Cash Cab TV game show, originated in Britain in 2005, is being shown in North America on the Discovery Channel. Unassuming commuters who flag down a replica yellow taxi become instant contestants of the TV game show. Contestants need to answer trivia questions to win cash prizes.
