According to international news reports, July 20, 2011, Carter Pope believed he had encountered a Chupacabra in his yard and had to cause the demise of the strange-looking creature.

The Chupacabra is likened to the legendary Loch Ness monster and Bigfoot in terms of popularity.

Reportedly, the Chupacabra’s legend originated in Puerto Rico in 1995 due to the demise of several livestock which were believed to have been “vampirized”  by a bi-pedaled animal, with spines protruding from its back. Pope believed that the strange looking creature found outside his home was a Chupacabra.

Several sightings of the Chupacabra have been reported in several countries like Russia, Philippines, Latin America and the US, that researchers were bent on determining its origin.

In November 2007, researchers were able to establish that the alleged Chupacabra was actually a coyote with a skin condition called “mange.” Mange is a skin infestation of parasitic mites on certain animals like the coyote, among others.

Further reports added that Carter Pope and his father had sent specimen samples of the alleged Chupacabra to a laboratory for testing, to end speculations.
