According to US news sites on Sunday, June 26, 2011, Pixar’s “Cars 2”, a 3-D film, made $68 million and won the box office as estimated by its distributor Walt Disney Studios.

Meanwhile, the comedy film “Bad Teacher” featuring Cameron Diaz landed on the second spot, with debut sales of $31 million, as noted at Hollywood Box-Office.

Cars 2“, a sequel of the 2006 film “Cars“, was said to have an equal debut sales of “Up“, another Disney-Pixar film which was shown in 2009 and made $68.1 million on its opening weekend.

Back in 2006, the original “Cars” movie made $60.1 million on its debut but was said to be higher than “Cars 2” since today’s ticket price is higher.

Meanwhile, both movies star Owen Wilson for the voice of race car Lightning McQueen and Larry the Cable Guy for tow truck Mater, but this time the two will be heading overseas because McQueen will join the World Grand Prix in Europe.

Apparently, “Cars 2” has two new characters namely Holley Shiftwell and Finn McMissile, which were voiced by Emily Mortimer and Michael Caine, respectively.
