Fans of Britney Spears are again lining up for the new single of the pop diva. This is the first single in her forthcoming album that is due for release this March, 2011. “Hold it Against Me” officially came out only last Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Nevertheless, it had already grabbed the number one spot on iTunes after just a few hours after its release. The song got 7.8 million listeners on its first day.

According to data from different radio stations, there is an excellent reception from their listeners. Spears’ fans talk about how great the single is. Based on the latest charts, it is in number 16 besting it out with the other songs. The success is not only true in the US but also in 14 other countries.

However, many critics are still skeptical whether the song can keep the expectations of the fans. Her comeback single needs more pizzazz to sustain the interest of the crowd.

Just recently, the Bellamy Brothers voiced out their disappointment in the alleged copying of Spears of their signature lyrics. The original came out in the 1979 classic, “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body”. The brothers think that Spears altered the original line that says, “If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?” into “If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?”.

Whether or not the lyrics were ripped off from the Bellamy Brothers, the song will make her regain her title as the pop princess – one thing is for sure; when Britney Spears starts to perform, most people would stop to watch in awe, and listen to her music.

Below is the YouTube video of the single of Britney Spears uploaded by SuperKherlen that shattered records on iTunes, making it to no. 1 in such a short time.
