Boxing promoter Bob Arum leaves Pacquiao-Margarito fight promo to find missing son

Top Rank Promotion CEO Bob Arum leaves the Pacquiao-Margarito fight promo tour in Los Angeles, to find his missing son; while on a mountain climbing in Seattle.

The international boxing promoter was informed last Tuesday that his son, John was missing.

“We got a call today that he had gone hiking and is missing, so Bob told the staff this morning that he would leave the tour and take a flight to Seattle,” boxing promoter Lee Samuels said. “Bob and his wife, Lovee, have left the tour and proceeded to Seattle.”

The 49-year old son of Bob Arum, who is an environmental lawyer, has been was apparently hiking in the mountains near Seattle since Sunday.

North Cascades National Park Complex, where John was believed to go for hiking, send five teams of employees and mountain rescue specialists to do the searching operation; said Kerry Olson, a parks service spokeswoman.

Arum’s tent was found but not his backpack or mountain climbing equipment, she said.

His camp was at an elevation of about 3,000 feet, and was thought to be traveling alone.

Pacquiao’s long time trainer said on Wednesday: “I lost my brother last year, and it’s affected my mother the most. I feel for Bob. Hopefully, his son will be ‘OK’. He’s going through a tough time.”

Meanwhile, the fighting bout between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito is set on November 13, and will take place at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

If Manny Pacquiao shall win, he will not only bring home the WBC junior middleweight title belt but also be the first and only boxer in the world to win eight different weight division boxing titles.
