New York – According to international news sites, Sotheby is planning to auction the original handwritten lyrics of Bob Dylan‘s song “The Times Are A-Changin’.” The auction date was planned to be on December 10, 2010 in New York City as part of a larger sale of books and manuscripts.

Sotheby said that the signed manuscript could sell for an estimated $200,000 to $300,000. It was written in pencil on a sheet of unruled notebook paper.

A senior vice president in Sotheby’s books and manuscripts department, Selby Kiffer said that Bob Dylan had originally given the lyrics to his fellow folk singer, Kevin Krown.

Reports said that the song was the title track of Dylan‘s third album. Bob Dylan recorded the song “The Times Are A-Changin‘” in 1963 and performed it at Carnegie Hall the same year.

The song was a classic 1960s folk protest song which contains political overtones with lines like, “Come senators, congressmen; Please heed the call.”
