BMW unveils new electric cars BMW i3 and i8 concepts in Germany (Photos)

BMW unveiled on Friday, July 29, 2011 its new electric cars BMW i3 and i8 concepts in a world premiere in Frankfurt, Germany, as shown in the photos below.

As announced by BMW Group on its official website, BMW revealed the concepts of its two upcoming electric cars; BMW i3 and BMW i8, which will be launched in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

“We are marking another milestone in the history of the BMW Group. As Chairman of the Board and an engineer myself, I am very proud of this project.” BMW AG Chairman of the Board Norbert Reithofer said on the report.

“As the world’s leading premium car manufacturer, our aim is to offer customers purpose-built electric-drive cars as well,” Reithofer added.

As noted at BMWGroup.com, both the BMW i3 and the BMW i8 will be built at BMW plant in Leipzig, Germany, with around million euros to be invested in new buildings and facilities in 2013.
