A partly gilded sword hilt has been reportedly found from the remains of Queen Anne’s Revenge, known to be the flagship of Edward Teach, also known as Blackbeard.

Blackbeard was known to be a notorious pirate during the 17th and 18th centuries who operated around the West Indies and the eastern coast of the American colonies.

The sword hilt has been found by archaeologists off North Carolina coast that could turn out to be that of Blackbeard‘s sword.

International news sites reported that archaeologists have been excavating the Queen Anne’s Revenge remains since 1997. The sword hilt has been found in pieces and was just reassembled and was said to be the latest find of the archaelogists. It has been revealed to the public this month.
