Black Sabbath reunion: Band announces new album after 33 years, 2012 worldwide concert tour (Video)

Heavy metal band “Black Sabbath” announced on Friday, November 11, 2011 their comeback after 33 years, as shown in the video below; with a studio album and a world concert tour in 2012.

As noted at entertainment news sites that day, the original members of the band Black Sabbath made the announcement in a press conference in Los Angeles, where they performed 41 years ago.

Black Sabbath members singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, announced that they will have an upcoming album to be produced by Rick Rubin.

“We’ve been working on developing material and we’re halfway into the writing process. It’s inspiring hearing what’s coming out.” Rubin said on the press conference, who also worked with other rock bands including Metallica, System of a Down, among others.

The Black Sabbath new album has no title yet but is being expected to be released in fall 2012 via Vertigo/Universal in the US and Vertigo in other countries. The band noted that they will have an appearance in UK’s Download Festival, which will be held at the Donington Park, England from June 8-10, 2012, and will be followed by a world concert tour.

Black Sabbath was formed in 1968 and sold over 15 million records in the US alone and more than 70 million albums worldwide. The band was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and was included among Rolling Stone‘s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

The band has a total of 18 released albums and had their last album, with original members, in 1978 titled “Never Say Die!Ozzy Osbourne left the band in 1979 to have a solo career and had hits such as “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley“. He rejoined Black Sabbath in 1997.
