According to TMZ on Monday, February 11, Patrick Carney is being greeted by fans outside Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, California, when they asked him why Justin Bieber was not nominated in any category during the recent 55th Annual Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles.
“He’s rich, right?…Grammys are for like music, not for money…and he’s making a lot of money. He should be happy.” Carney told TMZ, with The Black Keys winning four Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for “Lonely Boy,” and Best Rock Album for “El Camino.”
Dan Auerbach, the band’s lead singer and guitarist, won the Grammy award for Producer of the Year (Non-classical). Back in 2011, The Black Keys won three Grammy awards for their album ‘Brothers’ (Best Alternative Music Album) and its hit single, “Tighten Up,” which won the Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
But in fairness with Bieber, he has been nominated twice for Grammy Awards in 2011, for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for My World 2.0. However, he did not win any of them, and was not nominated since then. Nonetheless, he has already won seven out of eight American Music Awards (AMA) nominations.
