According to US news sites this week, the bizarre incident took place last August 23 at around 3:30 am (local time), and car owner Brian McCarthy and his family were fast asleep in their cabin in Lake Tahoe.

“Our son was the first one who woke up, and he was watching the bear through the window,” Brian McCarthy was quoted at ContraCostaTimes.com on Monday.

“We were looking out of our bedroom window and from our view, you could look down and see the bear in the car, and its arms were just flailing all over the place, through the windows and everything.” McCarthy added.

“The car was completely closed. There wasn’t any food in there. The only things in there were a beach towel, some CDs and a few phone chargers.” he explained further.

As noted in the reports, the whole family was awakened watched helplessly as the Toyota Prius started to roll out from their the driveway with the huge angry bear inside the car.

McCarthy, 61, said the Prius began to pick up speed since their driveway was slightly inclined. The black bear ripped the interior, scratched and bit everything to make its way out from the car.

Later, the car stopped after it hit the porch of a neighbor’s house and the bear managed to get out of the car and ran away and disappeared in the woods, with no car windows found broken.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department officers arrived at the scene but the bear was nowhere to be found. Although they had previous reports on bears, this incident was noted to be a bit different.
