As noted at CNN that day, Bishop Eddie Long told his congregants on their Sunday service that he will make a short leave from the church but stressed out that he is not stepping down.

“I’m going to take a little time off to work with my family,” Long said during the televised Sunday service, three days after his wife Vanessa filed for divorce, withdraws and filed it again.

“I do want you to know that this is, for me and my family, especially with me, one of the most difficult times and things I’ve had to face, and only because my strength, other than God, is in Miss Vanessa.” He added.

Nevertheless, the 58-year old religious leader emphasized that he is still the church’s pastor that he has not stepped down but rather ‘stepped-up’, and that he has no plans of resigning from his post.

As reported earlier, Vanessa Long released a statement stating she filed for divorce with her husband last Tuesday but a church spokesperson was noted to have announced that it was withdrawn hours later.

The next day, a third statement was released via her attorney, which said that she will pursue on filing a divorce with Bishop Eddie Long, whom Vanessa has been married for 20 years and has three children.

The details of the petition to divorce was not revealed but series of civil cases were filed against Bishop Eddie late last year, accusing the pastor of allegedly using his power to have sɛxual relations with young men, which he strongly denied. The said lawsuits were reportedly settled out of court last May.
