Billionaire Eli Broad Reveals Design Of Broad Art Foundation Contemporary Art Museum In Los Angeles

Billionaire Eli Broad revealed on Thursday, January 6, 2011 the design for the Broad Art Foundation contemporary art museum. It is a three-story museum designed by New York-based architectural firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro, several news sites reported.

The three story museum which will be named “The Broad” were estimated to be $130 million. It will be situated in the cornerstone of Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles.

According to reports, the museums design was described as a unique porous honeycomb “veil” that wraps the building and is visible through an expansive, top floor sky-lit gallery. It will showcase 2,000-piece art collection of Broad.

Meanwhile, “The Broad will also serve as the headquarters for the foundations worldwide art lending library,” as quoted in a press release statement.

The construction of the art museum was said to be scheduled to begin in late summer and expected to be completed in two years.
