Best broadband or Superfast broadband project, the largest investment of its kind made by the European Union, is being rolled out in some of UK‘s villages and will be completed in 2014, according to a March 29, 2011 press release by British Telecoms at Btplc.com.

According to the press release, about 50 Cornish customers had already been connected.

British Telecoms announced in September 2010 that 90% of homes in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly will be provided with the superfast broadband service.

The villages of Chacewater and Blackwater near Truro will be able to experience the same superfast broadband speed that the world’s top business leaders has.

The UK fiber optic roll-out will be its biggest to date and is expected to cost around £132 million. British Telecoms will shell out £78 million and the European Regional Development Fund will provide around £53 million.

Local businesses are anticipating wide business opportunities with the upcoming fast broadband links.
