BBC Children in Need TV Musical Charity raised more than £18 Million

BBC held a seven-hour telethon on Friday, November 19, 2010 entitled, Children in Need, and with the help of several celebrities was able to raised more than £18 Million, according to BBC news. The telethon aims to raise funds for needy children and young people in UK. The organizer of the event is hoping to surpass the £39 Million that was raised last year. The exact amount raised during the event that ended at 0200 GMT stood at £18,098,199. Last year, £20 Million was raised at the end of the show.

The celebrities who took part in the event includes Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue, Susan Boyle, Take That, Pixie Lott, Cheryl Cole and JLS among others. The casts of EastEnders and Coronation Street had a joint performance during the program. Fiona Bruce and Kate Silverton led the BBC news team’s rendition of a Lady Gaga song Poker Face. Other performances were held in other places like Cardiff, Odyssey Arena in Belfast and many others.

The show was hosted by Terry Wogan, Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton.
