Barry Manilow hospitalized in LA due to hips repair

Singer Barry Manilow was hospitalized on Monday, December 12, 2011 due to hips repair, a day after performing in his 1,000th Las Vegas concert.

As noted at entertainment news sites that day, Barry Manilow‘s publicist told Lifeline Live that the legendary singer will have bursas removed in both hips in an unnamed hospital in Los Angeles.

“That’s what you get when you jump around to Copacabana for 30 years! Wish me luck!” Manilow was quoted at People; who will also undergo operation to repair torn abductor muscles.

Barry Manilow, who went to fame in the late 70s for his mellow music, was said to recover within six weeks and is being expected to be fine when he performs at The Chicago Theater from February 2 to 4, 2012.

The 68-year old “Mandy” singer, who continued to release great hits in the 80s, is also set to perform in four other concerts at Radio City Music Hall in New York starting February 10 until Valentine’s Day 2012.

Among other Barry Manilow hits include “Could It Be Magic”, “Can’t Smile Without You”, “The Old Songs”, “Even Now”, “This One’s For You”, “Somewhere Down the Road”, “I Write the Songs” and more.
