US President Barack Obama‘s latest approval rating of 60 percent is his highest in two years, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll reported by several international news sites.

Majority of the Americans who responded to the survey, taken after US forces’ successful raid on Osama bin Laden, favors an Obama re-election.

Obama has now improved his standing on foreign policy, economy and independent Americans, according to the poll.

About 73 percent of the respondents say that they are confident that Obama can effectively handle terrorist threats with an improved standing on Afghanistan, Iraq and the United States‘ relationships with other countries.

More than half  of Americans surveyed has approved Obama‘s way of handling the US economy and unemployment.

The latest Obama approval rating is slightly higher than the 53 percent he received in March. Obama had a low of 47 percent after the midterm congressional elections last year. He had a 64 percent approval rating in May 2009, a few months after being sworn into office.
