A throwable panoramic ball camera with built-in 36 mobile phone cameras has been developed by Jonas Pfeil, Kristian Hildebrand, Carsten Gremzow, Bernd Bickel and Marc Alexa, according to reports by several international news sites on Friday, October 14, 2011.

The prototype throwable ball camera, consist of layer of protective foam, is being eyed for sports use. Other idea reported, is to use the camera inside the balls of existing field of professional ball games.

However, reports say that an upgraded and lighter camera may be needed if this will be used for official football or soccer ball.

In an issued statement, Pfeil said that “We only have a single prototype which we would rather not take into a basketball game. We did, however, take great care to build the prototype as durable as possible.”
