Bagyong Lando and PAGASA Weather Forecast August 1 Update

The latest Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather update revealed that as of 5 a.m. today, August 1, 2011 Bagyong Lando or Tropical Depression Lando was spotted at 280 km West of Sinait, Ilocos Sur while moving in the Northwestward direction.

According to PAGASA severe weather bulletin, Tropical Depression Lando is expected to move slowly with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph. PAGASA added that Bagyong Lando will enhance the southwest monsoon and bring about 5-10 mm per hour of rains in the western section of Luzon and Visayas.

DOST Undersecretary Graciano Yumul revealed in a DZMM radio interview that Bagyong Lando will be destroyed by Bagyong Kabayan by Tuesday, August 2. Yumul added that Bagyong Kabayan is expected to affect the country until Wednesday.

As of 2:00 a.m. today, Typhoon Kabayan was spotted at 1,115 km East Northeast of Tuguegarao, Cagayan. Typhoon Kabayan is moving North Northwest at 13 kph with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph.
