Bagyong Falcon (Typhoon Falcon) June 23 Update By PAGASA

Bagyong Falcon or Tropical Depression Falcon is now heading in the West Northwest direction to the extreme area of Northern Luzon at 19 kph, according to the latest Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecast as of 5:00 a.m., Thursday, 23 June 2011.

Based on the PAGASA weather update, Tropical storm Falcon was spotted at 250 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 10:00 p.m. last night. The typhoon has a maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

The PAGASA forecast indicates that by Friday evening Typhoon Falcon is expected to be at 170 km North Northwest of Basco, Batanes. By Saturday, PAGASA expects the typhoon at 600 km North of Basco, Batanes or at 130 km North of Taiwan.

Public Warning Storm Signal Number 1 is up in the following areas:

  • Albay,
  • Catanduanes,
  • Camarines Norte,
  • Camarines Sur,
  • Isabela,
  • Cagayan,
  • Calayan Group of Islands,
  • Babuyan Group of Islands and
  • Batanes Group of Islands.

Residents in areas under signal number 1 are being warned of possible flash floods and landslides.
