The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast on Bagyong Chedeng or Tropical Storm Chedeng on Monday said that during the next few days, the typhoon will bring rains and wind in the areas of Bicol and Metro Manila, as posted in its official website today, May 23, 2011.

With the early announcement of PAGASA, Albay Governor Joey Salceda and the provincial government are already preparing evacuation measures, as reported by ABS-CBN.

Governor Salceda is anticipating the worst case scenario for the upcoming storm. He told reports he is expecting that typhoon Chedeng will be worse than Typhoon Bebeng that left 35 people dead in Camarines Sur and P1.5 billion in damaged damaged crops and infrastructure.

At 5 pm today, PAGASA weather forecast said that typhoon Chedeng will cause strong to gale force winds that will affect the Eastern coastal areas of Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA is advising fishing boats and small sea crafts not to sail into the sea and large vessels were warned of big waves.

The next PAGASA bulletin will be issued at 5 am on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
