According to Gulf News on Monday, July 9, 2012, an unnamed Egyptian couple arrived at the Sharjah International Airport in UAE on Saturday morning from Egypt, but authorities stopped them later after learning that an X-ray machine detected a figure of a small human body inside their luggage.

As noted in the report, the Egyptian parents were earlier denied entry after authorities learned that the baby had no visa, passport, or official documents that would allow him to enter the country, but officials allowed them to stay until the relevant office re-opened the next day, Sunday.

However, the couple, who had proper documents for both them, allegedly decided to place their baby inside their bag when the airport authorities changed shift, in an attempt to hide the infant and to enter the country desperately, bringing into risk the health of their child.

“When customs officials saw the baby inside the bag at the X-ray scanner, they were stunned. This machine is very dangerous for anyone, let alone a baby in a bag to pass through.” A police was quoted telling to the paper, with the infant learned to be a baby boy and nearly one year old.

“A case will now be raised against the mother and father, they both have visas to come to the UAE, but they have put the life of their child at risk.” The police added, with reports saying that the couple reportedly left UAE since the mother wanted to give birth at home in Egypt.

The couple is being set to face prosecutors and was charged for endangering the life of their baby; who notably could have been exposed to X-ray radiation, with reports not giving details on how the baby boarded the plane without proper documents.
