According to reports, the message, which was supposed to be sent to only one employee, was sent to all employees of the company on Friday.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and wish you all the best for the future,” the message reportedly said. The email was said to be a standard message sent to people leaving the company, which also covers things such as handing back company equipment and confidentiality rules.

Reports said that a second email was sent to all employees apologizing for the mistake, 25 minutes later.

“An email which was intended for a member of staff who was leaving today was accidentally sent to all Aviva Investors staff worldwide,” Paul Lockstone, Aviva Investors spokesman was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

“People were pretty quickly aware of the fact that this was a mistake … I don’t believe any of our staff would have seen it really as anything other than the mistake that it was,” Lockstone added.
