Australian Leadership Awards Granted 18 Filipinos, Post Graduate Scholarships

The Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) granted 18 deserving Filipinos, Post Graduate Scholarships to prestigious Universities in Australia. This was announced by the Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, Rod Smith, last December 17, 2010.

The scholars were chosen according to their “potentials to assume leadership roles.” The 18 Filipinos were chosen among 200 Filipino applicants and 3,114 from all over Asia Pacific. The awardees had scores of at least 237 in the TOEFL computer based test score and a TOEFL paper-based score of at least 580, among the basic requirements.

Participating schools are located within the Australian Capital Territory like The Australian National University, the University of Canberra and a few more well known institutions.  Most schools in Western Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland.

The scholarship grants is a means for the Australian government to express their desire to support motivated people from other countries, and work with them to establish linkages. This would also enhance relationships and global development with  neighboring countries and with the whole world.
