As noted at PCMag.com on Friday, October 7, 2011, the day AT&T launched the iPhone 4S preorder, the company revealed that over 200,000 iPhone 4S units in the first 12 hours.

AT&T has seen extraordinary demand for iPhone 4S with more than 200,000 preorders in the first 12 hours alone, the most successful iPhone launch we’ve ever had,” AT&T was quoted in a statement.

“It’s obvious customers like AT&T’s 4G network, which is the only one that lets their iPhone download twice as fast and talk and surf simultaneously.” AT&T added.

Preorders for iPhone 4S started that day at AT&T, along with Sprint and Verizon Wireless; which was unveiled last Tuesday in an Apple event, a day before Apple co-founder Steve Jobs passed away.

The actual release of iPhone 4S will start on Friday, October 14, all the three carriers offering the 8GB iPhone 4 for $99. AT&T is giving away the iPhone 3GS for free, with a contract.

The iPhone 4S prices in US will be $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32 GB, and $399 for 64GB, all with a two-year contract, with Samsung earlier announcing that they will file for court injunction banning its sale in France and Italy.
