AT&T HTC Status pre-order now available, first smartphone with Facebook Share button (Video)

AT&T announced on Monday, July 11, 2011 that pre-order of HTC Status, dubbed as first “Facebook Phone” as shown in the video below, is now available through their official website.

According to a press release at ATT.com that day, the HTC Status, the first smartphone to have a dedicated Facebook Share button, is now available for $49.99 with a 2-year contract, with a minimum of $15 data plan required.

As noted on its report, HTC Status will arrive on AT&T stores on Sunday, July 17, with Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores to feature an exclusive mauve edition.

Besides HTC Status also being the first AT&T smartphone to use Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread; it features a QWERTY keypad and a 5-megapixel camera, and has a 2.6-inch touch screen with a 480 x 320 resolution.

In addition, HTC Status features a Facebook Chat application where chat conversations can be still be maintained even when the user will navigate away to take a call, or play a game, or surf the Internet.

“We can’t wait to put the HTC Status in the hands of our young customers who will waste no time tapping into Facebook to update their friends,” AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets senior vice president Jeff Bradley was quoted on the report.

“We’re also really pleased to offer the hottest new smartphone at an affordable price to this important, socially savvy youth market.” Bradley added.
