Assemblywoman Grace Ming claimed she was threatened after she demanded that radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh apologize for imitating President Hu Jintao’s Chinese language.  This was reported by MSNBC TV, January 28, 2011.

The Chinese president gave a speech during a joint press conference with US President Obama. Limbaugh was complaining about why an interpreter was not brought in and imitated President Jintao’s dialect. This has caught the attention of Assemblywoman Ming, who demanded an apology from Limbaugh. The assemblywoman said,

“I still stand fervently by my statement. I want to clarify that while any private citizen is free to say anything they want, I believe it is appropriate for anyone, especially a person with national recognition, to imitate the manner in which a group of people talks.”

Senator Leland Yee of California also received threats after his criticism of what Limbaugh did. Both politicians received threatening and rude emails as well, telling them to “go back to their country.”

The Asian population of California is 12 percent of the total population and about half of it is Chinese.  The Chinese have become significant figures in all aspects of the growing population of California and other states in America. They are now found in almost vital political posts in each State. Rush Limbaugh may reiterate his first amendment rights, but there are limits to this right that every American should realize.
