As revealed by Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson on Monday, March 19, 2012, Ashton Kutcher signed up for a trip to the outer edges of the earth’s atmosphere, which has no specific date yet.

“Great news today from our Astronaut Relations team at Virgin Galactic: our 500th future astronaut customer has just signed up! Even better news is that number 500 is Ashton Kutcher.” Branson wrote on his blog.

“I gave Ashton a quick call to congratulate and welcome him. He is as thrilled as we are at the prospect of being among the first to cross the final frontier (and back!) with us and to experience the magic of space for himself.” Branson added.

Apparently, Kutcher will join Tom Hanks, Katy Perry, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who earlier signed up for SpaceShipTwo flight, which as of February 2012 had completed 15 test flights while attached to WhiteKnightTwo.

As mentioned at VirginGalactic.com, space flight tickets cost $200,000 and require a $20,000 deposit, with Mr. Branson noting that his company is making sure that everything is just as safe as it can possibly be before commercial flights will start.
