Ashley Judd splits from her husband Dario Franchitti after being married for more than a decade. The 44-year old Hollywood actress and the 39-year old professional race car driver got married on December 12, 2001, via a highly private ceremony at Skibo Castle, near Dornoch, Scotland.

According to People on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, the couple exclusively confirmed to them that they had mutually agreed to end their marriage, but did not reveal the reason for their split. They were engaged for two years before they decided to be married. They did not have children.
“We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed,” Judd and Franchitti were quoted in a joint statement to People.
Back in May 2012, Dario Franchitti won his third Indianapolis 500 (Indy 500) trophy and honored his friend, Dan Wheldon, who died in October 2011, after a collision during the IZOD IndyCar World Championship in Las Vegas. Judd joined the celebration with Franchitti, showing no signs of marriage problems.
Judd, who also known for being active in humanitarian and political causes, recently said the she is taking a close look if she will run for senator in Kentucky in the 2014 election, adding that she is “honored and frankly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the people of Kentucky.”
