Arnold Schwarzenegger is now separated from Maria Shriver, but there was no report yet as to why they decided to split after being married for 25 years.

According to US news sites on Monday, May 9, 2011, former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and wife, Maria Shriverare now separated, which was confirmed by the actor’s spokesman.

“This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us,” a joint statement from the two was quoted at LA Times on Monday.

“After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together.” The statement added, as Schwarzenegger‘s spokesman, Daniel Ketchell did not elaborate any more details.

Schwarzenegger, 63, a Republican who finished his seven-year term as California governor in January, was earlier reported to be back in the entertainment industry.

A comic book ‘The Governator’ and its animated TV series will be launched, which will focus on his political career and an action hero particularly his role from the ‘Terminator’ movie series.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver were married on April 26, 1986 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Massachusetts and had four children.

Shriver, 55, a TV journalist and a niece of the late US President John F. Kennedy, was said to have announced before she and Arnold celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, that she is encountering a “hard transition” in her life.

A day after, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke about the issue, when he was a speaker on the 63rd Israel Independence Day celebration at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles.
