Applebee’s waitress Chelsea Welch new online petition launched, asks Church to fire Pastor Alois BellBy Angel Cuala on Feb 2, 2013 in Lifestyle, United States •
Former Applebee’s waitress Chelsea Welch is receiving a new support from a second online petition, not only asking the restaurant to rehire her, but also demanding World Deliverance Ministries Church to fire Pastor Alois Bell from her post. This is after Applebee’s fired Welch over a so-called ‘God’ receipt.

“Give Chelsea Welch her job back and Fire Pastor Alois Bell.” A statement reads on the title of the petition at Change.org, which was launched by Andy Bearden of Albertville, Alabama, on Friday, February 1, 2013, and has over 1,100 signatures as of this writing. An earlier online petition was launched by HuffPost Comedy.
Bearden, 23, whose Facebook page indicates that he previously worked at Applebee’s as a server back in 2011, addressed the petition to Applebee’s and World Deliverance Ministries Church, where Bell serves as a female pastor. She was earlier interviewed by Fox 2 News and apologized for her mistake.
As reported earlier, Pastor Bell wrote on the Applebee’s receipt, “I give God 10 percent, why do you get 18?” and placed a ‘zero’ on the Additional Tip portion, and signed her name below. The receipt revealed a $34.93 bill with an automatic tip of 18%, charged on her credit card. Welch posted a photo of the receipt at Reddit, which eventually went viral.
Later, Pastor Bell complained to Applebee’s and noted that she was humiliated and that her privacy was invaded, since Welch included the portion of the ‘God’ receipt where Bell‘s signature can be seen. This prompted Applebee’s decision to fire Chelsea, emphasizing that “no one in their franchise has the right to share this information publicly.”
“I took a picture of the note because I thought it was comically immature. I thought it was humorously silly, the fact that someone would not only refuse to tip, not only make themselves out to kind of be a jerk but also play the religion card as an excuse.” Chelsea Welch told Fox 2 News in an earlier interview.
