According to a report at All Things D by John Paczkowski on Monday, August 01, 2011, “sources with knowledge of the situation” said that the next-generation iPhone (iPhone 5) will be released this coming October.

“I don’t know why AT&T’s calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,” The source added.

As of this writing, there are still no confirmed details of the iPhone 5 being released by Apple but earlier speculations revealed that it is not an upgraded iPhone 4.

Early last month, a source reportedly told Wall Street Journal that iPhone 5 will possibly be thinner and lighter than the iPhone 4, and will have an 8-megapixel camera.

In addition, earlier rumors said that iPhone 5 will be using the faster A5 processor on which the iPad 2 runs, which is a Qualcomm dual mode GSM/CDMA baseband.
