Apple iPad 3 release date and details revealed, reports say

The possible Apple iPad 3 release date and some of it details have been revealed on Friday, August 19, 2011, with the company reportedly planning to stay on top of the tablet market.

According to Wall Street Journal that day, people familiar with the situation told them that Apple is now working with component suppliers and its assembler in Asia about the iPad 3.

As noted in the report, the next generation iPad may have its trial production this coming October and Apple is aiming to launch it in early part of 2012, with orders already placed by the company.

“Suppliers will ramp up production and try to improve the yield rate for the new iPad in the fourth quarter before its official launch in early 2012,” A person at the supplier was quoted as saying.

The iPad 3 is being expected to feature a high resolution display (2048 x 1536), notably higher than iPad 2 (1024 x 768), with Apple has placed orders for a 9.7-inch screen device.

As of this writing, the company has not yet confirmed this report no other iPad 3 details have been revealed as well as its potential features but is being expected to be thinner and faster than iPad 2.

Nevertheless, the parts ordered were said to be consumable for about 1.5 million iPad 3 units in the fourth quarter of this year, as Apple was noted to have sold about 9.3 million iPad 2 units this quarter.
