Finally, Apple’s iOS 4.2 is now available, according to Apple on their official website on Monday.

As Apple announced, iOS 4.2, the latest version of their popular mobile operating software, in which its release has been slightly delayed, is now available for download for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users.

As earlier reported, iOS 4.2 brings over 100 new features from iOS 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 to iPad, which includes Multitasking, Unified Inbox, Folders, Game Center, AirPrint, and AirPlay.

Multitasking, according to Apple, is the ability of users to create folders and sort apps into these folders, while AirPrint allows users to print from their iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch using wireless connection.

AirPlay, on the other hand, allows users to stream music, photos, and videos from their iOS device to the Apple TV or speakers, also using wireless connection.

Another free feature available in iOS 4.2 is the ‘Find My iPhone‘ (or iPad or iPod touch), which allows users to ‘easily locate a missing device on a map and have it display a message or play a sound’.

Interestingly, Apple also said iPad users can now run their favorite apps and switch between them right away, while preserving its battery life.

iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season,” Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs said on the post.

“Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit.” He added.
